We present to you some of the discos and pubs available in Singapore. A kaleidoscope of nightspots are previewed in this assignment. From the "in" places to the slightly "quieter" escapes; pumped in disco beats to live-bands, it's all here! We feel that the topic reaches out to a broad spectrum of people, be it Singaporeans or people from out of town. The aim is to inform the person on the choices available.
The basics are provided in bite-sized portions for quick reference like the location, telephone numbers, cover charge, opening hours & happy hours and also the best way to get there. We have taken the liberty of providing an "insiders" analysis of each of the nightspots covered.
Boat Quay
More than 35 bars and restaurants have opened in Boat Quay featuring alfresco dining along the riverbank. This is a favourite spot for both locals and visitors seeking good food and a cool breeze. The waterfront shophouses are also home to blues bar, karaoke lounges and pubs. Their wooden shutters and floorboards and lazy ceiling fans provide a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Here you will find watering-holes offering a wide variety of music and live entertainment from jazz to rock.
Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay is Singapore's only riverside festival village combining dining, shopping and entertainment.
On the 23,000 square-metre site are five blocks of building housing 60 godowns and shophouses, restored to their original 19th century style. These contain a spread of specialty restaurants, themed pubs and wine bars, and pedestrianised streets.
